Christian Education Department

We give glory, honour and adoration to the Lord for His love, mercy and favour toward us all. We cannot but also appreciate those whom God has used and still using for the successes this department has recorded so far and most especially in the year under review. We appreciate our heads of divisions in the department, our coordinators at Association level, our dependable moderators, our dynamic church pastors and the conference leaders. May the Lord continue to guide and strengthen you, may He also use you beyond your widest dream as you labour for the expansion

of His kingdom on earth. Amen. The year under review is full of activities and achievements, few of these achievements shall be highlighted.

We thank God for the success God granted this department to record during the Conference in session. Worthy of note is the cooperation of all and sundry especially our pastors and Christian Education Coordinators of all Associations during Christian Education Hour. Quiz and Sword Drill were keenly contested after which two contestants each for Children and Youth categories that were to represent our conference in the semi-finals were emerged. Bro. Emmanuel Sunday (Godswill) and Bro. Solomon Oyediji (New Life) came first and second respectively in the Youth category while Miss Gloria Okegbemi (Godswill) and Miss Bright Adeleke (Kauna) came first and second respectively in the Children category. These four contestants represented our conference in Abuja on March 15 but non of them was able to pick ticket to the final in Ibadan despite the fact that Solomon Oyediji and Gloria Okegbemi came second each in the semi-final at Abuja. This is due to the fact that they were unable to get minimum of 65marks out of 120 marks obtainable. We hope to have representatives at this year final in Owerri.

These include Christian Education Leaders’ Retreat which was held on March 26 and 27 at Ibadan, Christian Education Council meetings on June 14, August 23, and October 18, 2014 at Victory Baptist Church by 10:00 am. Children Day celebration was observed on May 25 throughout our Churches in the Conference, Holiday Bible School workshop for the Children Teachers came up on July 19 after which our Churches held a week long Holiday Bible School activities at various times in August .  It was observed that many of our Churches are yet to grasp the significant of Holiday Bible School for our children and Churches. More enlightenment on it shall be provided for subsequent editions.

2014 Christian Education Conference was held at Alaafia Oluwa Baptist Church, Kagara between November 5 and 7, 2014. The programme was well attended and well coordinated. The department proposed 369 delegates which were shared among our Associations. At the end of the day, 278 delegates were registered. We appreciate the efforts of our host Church and her leadership, Rev’d Dr Kehinde Olaleye who is also the Chairman of the Conference for providing a conducive atmosphere for worship and reclining. Host Association, Good News Baptist Association is worthy of commendation too. The Association as well as its leadership worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the programme. They had the highest number of registered delegates far beyond our expectation and co- operated in all ramifications to ensure success. We do hope other Associations will emulate their good gesture when it is their turn to host Christian Education Conference. We are seizing this opportunity to appeal to some of our Associations which did not register as expected to please devise means of mobilizing their members in the subsequent editions of the conference in order to keep the good work going.

There is a popular saying that “Give light to the people and they will find their way.” Without doubt, Christian Education Department at local Church level, Association level, Conference and Convention levels has been the source of light we need as people of the book. It is the power house of any Church and the back bone of our Associations and Conference. No amount of money spent on this department is too much and no amount spent to promote the department is a waste. We appeal to our leaders at all levels to give moral, financial and prayer supports to this department for the betterment of our ministries and expansion of the kingdom of God.

We appreciate the moral, financial and spiritual supports of all and sundry especially the stakeholders of Christian Education Department of this great conference. Those things God did in our lives through you in the year 2014 are small compare with things He has prepared to do through us  this year 2015 if we cooperate with Him. Let us do it again!!!. May the Lord be with us all.  Wishing you happy and successful deliberations.
